California Youth Connection

California Youth Connection (CYC) is comprised of current and former foster youth, ages 14-24, who build community, organize, and advocate for improvements to child welfare and other systems directly impacting their lives. In 1988, the founding members of CYC launched a movement to place youth voice at the heart of advocacy and at the center of conversations about their lives. In this project, CYC  will collaborate with its longtime partner, California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to create a joint task force to improve the experiences of BYMOC in foster care. The objective is to develop a shared long-term vision and strategies for systems reform to reduce the number of BYMOC foster youth placed in group homes and keep them out of the criminal justice system.
