Kassandra is a Puerto Rican and Mexican artist, facilitator, and organizer born in NYC and raised by the South (Sunrise, FL) and Appalachia (WV). Kass has been making a difference in the lives of young people since they were a teen, using the power of arts and culture in pursuit of collective liberation. Kassandra is the National Organizer for Education and Justice Transformation at The Center for Popular Democracy, where they strategize with a national network of youth, parents, and everyday people to win education justice campaigns rooted in love, dignity, and collective power. Kassandra holds a BA in Latin American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Geography from West Virginia University. More recently, they have trained with The Highlander Research and Education Center and Generative Somatics. Outside of work, Kass enjoys eating guava pastelitos, dancing reggaeton with their shadows, and writing love letters to the universe.
